The idea for this composition came from a trip to the old church of St Nicholas in the village of Verola. The church in this place was first mentioned in the 1500s. During the WWII it was located on the road of life and served as a repair shop for cars travelling on the Ladoga ice. Now it stands without a dome and a cross in a ruined state
