Media files
About this section
In this section, you need to upload the release files. In most cases, you’ll only be uploading audio files here, but this is also where you upload Motion Art covers for Apple Music. We explained the requirements for Motion Art here, and the requirements for audio files are listed in this article.
Please note
Before submitting your release for review, make sure there are no files left in the project that aren’t attached to any tracks and aren’t Motion Art. These unused files should be deleted or moved to the FTP catalog.
Table contents
This table shows the technical details of your files. Use the “Track” column to link files to tracks — just click a cell in that column and choose the correct track from the dropdown list. If you need to add tracks, you can do so in the previous (“Main information”) or the next (“Tracks”) section.
Buttons
Upload Files
This button lets you upload files from your computer. When you click it, an additional browser window will open.
After dragging files from your file explorer into the newly opened window, a queue will be created. Once a file uploads successfully, it will disappear from the queue and appear in the media file list in the main window. If there’s an error during upload, you’ll see a description of the issue at the bottom of the additional window. Please don’t close this window while the upload is in progress.
Get from FTP
This button lets you upload files from your FTP catalog. When you click it, the catalog window will open.
In the top right corner, you can filter files by type. In the example above, the filter “audio files only” is selected.
To upload a file, check the box next to its name and click Start Import Process.
Note: After a file is imported from the FTP catalog to the platform, it will disappear from the catalog.
If an error occurs, details will be shown at the bottom of the window, below the file list. Please don’t close this window while the upload is in progress.
Move file to FTP
This button lets you move selected files to your FTP catalog.
Remove files
This button lets you delete selected files from your release. Please note: once deleted, we won’t be able to help you recover them. If you’re not sure whether you want to remove the files permanently, you can move them to the FTP catalog instead.
