Working with TTML editor

Introduction

Text in TTML format is karaoke text. In those stores that have such a function, the lyrics of the track will be scrolled as the song progresses.

In TTML format, for each line of a song a time period is specified in the format minutes:seconds:milliseconds. Our TTML editor allows you to load plain text and then manually edit it to the TTML format, correlating lines and time periods of the track (blocks).

Please note that to edit TTML text, the track's audio file must already be uploaded to the release and attached to this track.

Adding text

You can paste text into the TTML editor in two ways.

First, you can use the "Load from file" button located in the lower right part of the editor. With it, you can add text as a plain text file (.txt) or as a ready-made TTML file if you have already created one.

Secondly, if you have previously added words to the track in plain text, the “Create TTML file from text” button will be available to you. By clicking it, you will copy the plain text you previously added here.

Editor window

Top section - audio track, artists and their blocks

In this part, the audio track of the track is available to you in the form of its wave.

The green slider shows the moment and time of the song at which playback was stopped. To the left of it, using the “-” and “+” buttons, you can stretch the wave of the track to make it more convenient to place blocks.

Below the wave are the artists and their blocks. Each block represented here corresponds to one of the lines of text. You can move them by holding down the left mouse button inside the block. You can also stretch them in time by holding down the block frame with the left mouse button. If you have already placed the block in the desired location and set its duration, you can lock it by right-clicking on it so that you do not accidentally move it later. To unlock it back, right-click again.

The blocks are located inside a gray frame. This frame shows at what point in the track the words in it begin. You can move it by clicking on any empty space inside it and dragging it left or right. To stretch or compress it, drag it by the left or right edge.

There is a player under the blocks. Using the icon with three vertical dots, you can change the playback speed of the track.

Bottom left section - track and artist settings

This section contains the main track settings.

Language

The language you enter in this field must match the "Track audio language" field you previously filled in when editing the track itself on the "Artists and Contributors" tab.

TTML Title

In this field you can specify the name of the lyrics. By default it will be equal to the name of the track, but you can change it if you wish. The name of the lyrics may be displayed in some stores.

Performers

These fields display all artists - those you have specified in the track editor on the "Artists and Contributors" tab, as well as those you can add here using the "Add Artist Name" field. All artists specified here must have rows assigned to them. If there are extra artist names in the editor, please remove them using the red "X" icon next to these names.

Please remember that if you add an additional artist here, you will also need to add them in the track editor in the "Artists and Contributors" tab and give them the "Vocals" role.

Bottom right section - lines of text

Here is the main part of the TTML editor — the lyrics themselves. Each line here corresponds to one of the blocks located above, under the track wave. When you hover over a line, you can see the corresponding block, and vice versa. On the left side of the line, you can see the exact start and end time of this section in the track. Using the green "+" button, you can assign an artist to this line. By right-clicking on the line, you can select an action: edit the line (the lyrics themselves), start a new part of the song from this line (this will split the lyrics into two parts — this is how you can mark choruses, buys, bridges, etc.), merge this line with the previous one, or delete the line.

You can also select a section of the string and then right-click on the selected section. In addition to the previously mentioned actions, you can also create a separate line from the selected section, mark the selected section in bold or italic, or mark it as profanity.
