Updating Artist Profiles in Apple Music
Updating Artist Profiles in Apple Music
What's New?
We’ve integrated Apple’s direct Artist API. You can now:
- Search for artists faster and with more accuracy
- Search and create profiles with special characters (such as $, quotes, etc.)
- Add localized name versions for different languages
- Upload or replace the artist profile image
- Specify artist’s city and date of birth during creation
How to Create an Artist Profile Properly
- Selecting the Primary Locale
By default, the system uses the release metadata language. We recommend manually selecting the language in which the artist name is written and using localized versions for other languages. This is especially important if your releases are in multiple languages (e.g., "Иван Иванов" / "Ivan Ivanov").If you don’t use localizations, different name spellings might result in the creation of separate profiles.
- Optional Additional Data
- Hometown
- Date of birth (you can specify just the year, month and year, full date, or day and month)
This information can only be added during creation. It cannot be changed later in the interface.
- Profile Picture
- Format: JPG or PNG
- Minimum size: 2400×2400 px, square
- Color profile: RGB
The image appears in the profile 1–2 days later, after Apple moderation.
What Can Be Edited Later?
- Add or change localized name versions
- Replace the profile image
- Cannot change: primary locale (name language)
- Cannot change: city and date of birth
Restrictions: Duplicate Artist Names
Apple only allows two artist profiles with the same name per provider account (in this case, our account).
If your artist's name is too common (e.g., DJ Max) and two profiles have already been created by other clients, a third cannot be created via the interface.
Possible solutions:
- Contact us — we can submit a manual request to Apple
- Note: manual requests are processed by email and may take up to one week
- We recommend using a unique or modified name (e.g., DJ Max Berlin, Max Black)
